This morning we got up early and went straight to the Taipei domestic airport where we got on a TransAsia Airways flight to Makung airport which is located in the Penghu Islands (formerly The Pescadores) which is a set of tropical islands in between mainland China and Taiwan. The main set of islands in connected via bridges, and there are some outlying islands which are also populated but which are only accessible by water.

The first day we rented some motor scooters and explored the main islands. We doubled up on the scooters and since I'm not very experienced with them I let Bonita drive, and I sat behind her. First we went past the Penghu Acquarium and found some sea life in the tide pools including a small crab which Jen scared Bonita with. We decided not to go to the Acquarium right away though and continued on. We continued on a went over a large bridge which is one of the tourist attractions on the island. After this we turned off towards a place called "Whale Cave" which was a set of cliffs, one of which had a cave through it looking out into the ocean. Near here was a small stand which sold a juice made from pine trees which I tried. It had a sweet flavor similiar to cactus juice.

Then we went to a seafood restaurant which was very famous, and even a former president had eaten there. We had some sashimi, some soup,
